England recall Alexander-Arnold and Palmer as Tuchel names September squad

Thomas Tuchel has recalled Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer to the England squad for the September international break.

England are preparing to face Spain, Croatia and the Czech Republic twice in the Nations League.

Tuchel has also selected Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha and Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, after both players were previously included in the provisional squad for the 2026 World Cup.

The squad is:

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Jason Steele (Brighton), James Trafford (Leeds).

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Real Madrid), Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton), Trevoh Chalobah (Como), Marc Guehi (Manchester City), Lewis Hall (Newcastle United), Ezri Konsa (Arsenal), Valentino Livramento (Newcastle), Nico O’Reilly (Manchester City), Jarell Quansah (Bayer Leverkusen).

Midfielders: Elliot Anderson (Manchester City), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Lewis-Skelly (Arsenal), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Alex Scott (Bournemouth).

Forwards: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Leeds United), Eberechi Eze (Arsenal), Anthony Gordon (Barcelona), Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Rio Ngumoha (Liverpool), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Morgan Rogers (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal).

Twelve players have been left out of the squad for the September fixtures. They are Phil Foden, Morgan Gibbs-White, Harry Maguire, Ivan Toney, Noni Madueke, Ollie Watkins, Jordan Henderson, Djed Spence, Reece James, Dan Burn, John Stones and Dean Henderson.

Alexander-Arnold returns after moving to Real Madrid, while Palmer is back in the squad following his absence from the previous selection.

Ngumoha and Scott are the two younger additions after their inclusion in the previous reserve group linked to preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

England finished third at the most recent World Cup after beating France in the bronze-medal match.
