Real Betis moved up to third in La Liga after a 1-0 home victory over Getafe on Thursday, with Morocco international Abde Ezzalzouli scoring the only goal of the match.
Ezzalzouli struck in the 45th minute to secure three points for Manuel Pellegrini’s side in the sixth round of the season.
Getafe were reduced to 10 men in the 87th minute when Mario Martin was sent off, but Real Betis had already done enough to claim the win.
The result takes Real Betis to 15 points, leaving them third in the table and behind second-placed Real Madrid only on goal difference.
Getafe remain on five points and are 16th.
Real Madrid will visit city rivals Atletico de Madrid in the seventh round of La Liga next Sunday, while Real Betis will travel to face Deportivo La Coruna on the same day.
