16 Roma fans arrested over fascist salutes during Atalanta match

Italian police have arrested 16 Roma fans for making fascist salutes during the club’s match against Atalanta, according to Reuters.

The supporters have been banned from entering stadiums anywhere in Italy for periods ranging from one to five years. The restrictions also cover Roma’s away matches and fixtures involving the Italy national team.

The arrests come as Roma continue their perfect start to the Serie A season. They beat Torino 2-0 in the fourth round to move on to 12 points and remain top of the table with a 100% record.

Torino have three points and sit 14th in the standings following the defeat.

Roma’s next match is against second-placed Inter on Saturday in the fifth round of Serie A. Inter are level on points with Roma but trail on goal difference.
