Match details
Pyramids manager Roland Mokwena made two changes to the side that started the league victory over El Gouna. Mahmoud Abdel Hafeez “Zlaka” replaced Ahmed Atef “Kota”, while Youssef Ibrahim “Obama” came in for Ahmed Abdel Kader.
Zlaka’s involvement lasted only 13 minutes, when he was forced off with an injury. Ahmed Atef “Kota” came on in his place.
Eastern Company Enppi broke the deadlock in the 47th minute after Hamed Abdullah capitalised on an error by Pyramids goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenawy and placed the ball into the net.
It was Abdullah’s first goal for Eastern Company Enppi this season. He did not score last season despite making 14 appearances for the club.
Pyramids responded quickly after the interval. Nasser Maher tested Eastern Company Enppi goalkeeper Abdel Rahman Samir with a shot from outside the penalty area in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper made the save.
A minute later, Samir again denied Pyramids, this time stopping a powerful effort from Eyad El Askalany.
Pyramids eventually levelled in the 65th minute. Mostafa Fathi found Maher with a well-weighted pass into the middle of the penalty area, and Maher finished with a shot that beat Samir.
The visitors continued to press for a winner and found it in the final minute of normal time. Mohmed Lasheen played a through ball into the path of El Karti, who reached it in front of goal and finished past the Eastern Company Enppi goalkeeper.
Pyramids will return to Egyptian Premier League action against Ceramica Cleopatra on 12 October in the sixth round. Eastern Company Enppi will face Modern Sport on the same date.
