Juan Bezerra passes medical ahead of Shabab Al Ahli Dubai move

Zamalek midfielder Juan Bezerra has passed a medical with UAE club Shabab Al Ahli Dubai, clearing the final stage before his expected transfer is officially announced.

Zamalek gave the Brazilian permission to travel to the United Arab Emirates for the examination, and the move is expected to be confirmed within the coming hours.

Bezerra returned to Cairo on Saturday after previously refusing to come back to begin Zamalek’s pre-season camp. His decision was linked to his desire to join Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.

Zamalek had insisted that the player return to Cairo before any negotiations over his future could take place. Despite the proposed move, Bezerra remains under contract with the Egyptian club for a further three seasons.

The club had also demanded improved financial terms from Shabab Al Ahli Dubai before agreeing to his departure. A Zamalek source previously said the club had made two conditions central to the negotiations.

The first was Bezerra’s return to Cairo to complete discussions, while the second was for Zamalek to receive the full value of the $5 million fee, together with 20% of any future transfer fee.

Zamalek also required the UAE club to cover the 20% share owed to Bezerra’s former club, Ukrainian side Oleksandria. That obligation is worth up to $1 million from the transfer, with Shabab Al Ahli Dubai also expected to pay the solidarity contribution.

With those additional payments included, the overall value of the deal is expected to reach almost $7 million.

Bezerra made 44 appearances for Zamalek in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals and providing 12 assists.

He helped Zamalek win the Egyptian league title last season but was also part of the side that lost the Confederation Cup final on penalties.
