Barcelona reject Revolut sponsorship over Luis Figo advertising campaign

Barcelona have rejected a sponsorship offer from Revolut because former player Luis Figo was involved in the proposed agreement, according to Radio Catalonia.

The report says the deal included an advertising campaign based on Figo’s controversial move from Barcelona to Real Madrid. The campaign used the historic transfer to encourage people to switch banks.

Barcelona turned down the proposal for emotional reasons linked to Figo’s direct move to their rivals, Radio Catalonia added.

Figo left Barcelona for Real Madrid in a transfer that remains one of the most significant and contentious in the rivalry between the two Spanish clubs. His appearance as the face of the campaign was therefore considered unacceptable to Barcelona.

Barcelona currently lead La Liga with 18 points, having won all six of their matches.

They are three points clear of second-placed Real Madrid.
