Boca Juniors reach Copa Sudamericana semi-finals with Egyptian coach Amr Mokhtar

Boca Juniors have reached the semi-finals of the Copa Sudamericana under manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena, with Egyptian coach Amr Mokhtar part of his coaching staff.

The Argentine club drew 1-1 away to Sao Paulo in Brazil, securing a 2-1 aggregate victory after winning the first leg 1-0 at home.

Boca Juniors will face Brazilian side Vasco da Gama in the last four. Vasco da Gama booked their place in the semi-finals by eliminating Argentine club Independiente in the quarter-finals.

Mokhtar, a former coach at Pyramids, is working as part of Arruabarrena’s staff and is the first Egyptian to coach in the Argentine league.

The young Egyptian began his coaching career at Pyramids, where he was involved in more than one coaching team responsible for the club’s first-team management.

His performances and commitment led to his selection by the respected Argentine coach Arruabarrena. Mokhtar subsequently joined his staff and remained a key member of the coaching team during the manager’s work at several clubs and teams in recent years.

Mokhtar first worked with Arruabarrena as an assistant coach with the United Arab Emirates national team. The pair later joined Saudi club Al-Taawoun before moving to Boca Juniors.

His appointment at Boca Juniors represents another significant step in a coaching career that has developed through both academic and practical experience.
