Egypt Under-2010s step up scouting after North Africa qualifiers postponed

Egypt’s Under-2010 team have completed a training camp at the National Teams Centre as preparations continue for the North Africa qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The tournament will be hosted by Morocco, while the regional qualifying competition has been postponed until November.

Led by Abdel Sattar Sabry, Egypt concluded the camp with a morning training session. The coaching staff used the final workout to practise a number of technical and tactical moves, assess the players’ performances and review their response to the training programme.

Egyptian Football Association technical director Shawky Gharib also met Sabry and the Under-2010 coaching staff to discuss their plans for the coming period following the delay to the North Africa qualifiers.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to increase the monitoring of matches in the Under-2010 league. The aim is to identify promising players and give those who perform well the opportunity to join the national team.

The coaching staff will also submit technical reports to Gharib after each round of the Under-2010 league.

Egypt’s scheduled matches in the North Africa qualifiers are:

– Egypt v Morocco at the Sousse Olympic Stadium – Algeria v Egypt at Stade Mustapha Ben Jannet in Monastir – Egypt v Tunisia at the Sousse Olympic Stadium – Libya v Egypt at Stade Mustapha Ben Jannet in Monastir

The top two teams, excluding hosts Morocco, will qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations for youth players.

Gharib, the Egyptian Football Association’s technical director, announced that the start of the North Africa qualifiers for the 2010-born age group had been postponed.
