Mohamed Ouahbi names Morocco squad for Gabon, Lesotho and Ghana matches

Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi has announced his squad for the upcoming matches against Gabon, Lesotho and Ghana.

Ouahbi unveiled his selection on Thursday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex ahead of Morocco’s opening two matches in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Atlas Lions will face Gabon in their first qualifier before meeting Lesotho in the second round of matches. They will also play a friendly against Ghana during the same international period.

The squad includes a number of familiar names, with goalkeeper Yassine Bounou among the four goalkeepers selected by Ouahbi.

Munir El Kajoui, Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti and Alaa Bellaarouch complete the goalkeeping options.

In defence, Ouahbi has called up Noussair Mazraoui, Anass Salah-Eddine, Marwane Saadane, Nayef Aguerd, Redouane Halhal, Issa Diop, Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, Achraf Hakimi, Zakaria El Ouahdi and Ali Maamar.

Samir El Mourabet, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Neil El Aynaoui, Oussama Targhalline, Bilal El Khannouss, Soufiane El Faouzi and Azzedine Ounahi are among the midfielders named in the squad.

The attacking options include Ismael Saibari, Brahim Diaz, Yassine Gessime, Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, Abdellah Ouazzane, Soufiane Rahimi, Tawfik Bentayeb and Yassir Zabiri.

Ouahbi’s selection gives Morocco a 29-player squad for the three fixtures.

The opening assignment will be against Gabon in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, with Lesotho providing the opposition in the second qualifying match.

Morocco will then also face Ghana in a friendly, giving Ouahbi an additional fixture as he prepares his side for the competitive matches.

The squad brings together experienced players and younger members of the national team, with several established names included for the September international window.
