Lionel Messi’s trophy haul: 49 major honours across club and country

Lionel Messi has won 49 major honours during his career, including 43 at club level and six with Argentina.

The Argentina forward is regarded as one of the greatest players in football history and enjoyed his most successful period at Barcelona, where he helped establish a dominant era in Spanish and European football.

Messi joined Barcelona’s academy in 2000 after moving from Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys. He made his first-team debut in 2004 and remained with the Catalan club until 2021.

During his time at Barcelona, Messi won 35 trophies. His collection included 10 La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey trophies and eight Spanish Super Cups.

He also lifted the UEFA Champions League four times, in 2005–06, 2008–09, 2010–11 and 2014–15. Barcelona won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup three times during his spell at the club, in 2009, 2011 and 2015.

Success with Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Miami

Messi added three honours during his time at Paris Saint-Germain, winning Ligue 1 in 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, as well as the Trophee des Champions in 2022.

His 10 La Liga titles, combined with his two Ligue 1 successes, gave him 12 league championships. That moved him past Paul Scholes and left him one title short of Ryan Giggs’ total of 13.

Messi then claimed five trophies with Inter Miami. He won the Leagues Cup in 2023, the Supporters’ Shield in 2024, and the Eastern Conference title, MLS and MLS Cup in 2025, with the latter three honours listed as part of his 2025 and 2026 collection in the record.

The Leagues Cup was Inter Miami’s first trophy and came after Messi had played only seven matches for the club. The team is owned by David Beckham.

Argentina honours

Messi’s early years with Argentina were marked by disappointment, but his international record changed significantly from 2021 onwards.

He won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2005 and Olympic gold at the 2008 Games. Argentina also reached the 2014 FIFA World Cup final, where they lost to Germany.

At the Copa America, Messi finished runner-up in 2007, 2015 and 2016 before finally winning the competition in 2021. He then helped Argentina win the Finalissima and the FIFA World Cup in 2022, before claiming another Copa America title in 2024.

His six international honours are made up of one FIFA World Cup, two Copa America titles, one FIFA U-20 World Cup, one Olympic gold medal and one Finalissima.

Together, Messi’s club and international achievements give him a total of 49 trophies.
