Levski Sofia begin Europa League campaign against Red Bull Salzburg

Levski Sofia begin their Europa League campaign at home to Red Bull Salzburg at 16:45 at Vasil Levski Stadium.

The Bulgarian side will be aiming to make an immediate impression in the competition in front of their own supporters, while Salzburg arrive as the favourites on paper and with significant European experience.

The Austrian visitors are expected to pose a major challenge through their high pressing and rapid attacking transitions. Those qualities will test the organisation and defensive discipline of Levski Sofia from the opening stages.

Red Bull Salzburg have won both of the teams’ previous meetings, with those two encounters taking place in 2009. Levski Sofia will therefore need an outstanding performance to defy the pre-match expectations and claim their first points of the campaign at home.
