Mosimane to name final Bafana Bafana squad on Thursday

Pitso Mosimane will announce his first final Bafana Bafana squad since returning as head coach on Thursday, the South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed.

Mosimane was unveiled as the new Bafana Bafana coach at a press briefing at SAFA House earlier in September, replacing Belgian manager Hugo Broos.

The former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns coach will begin his second spell in charge with a match against Guinea on 23 September.

Bafana Bafana will then travel to face Eritrea four days later. Kenya, the co-hosts, are the other side in their qualification group.

Mosimane initially selected a provisional 35-man squad, which included several players who had not previously featured in his plans. He will reduce that group when he confirms his final selection on Thursday.

The new names in the preliminary squad were Yanela Mbuthuma, Cemran Dansin, Tshepo Mashiloane, Puso Dithejane, Shandre Campbell, Lebone Seema, Tashreeq Matthews, Ronaldo Van Neel and Lebohang Maboe.

It remains to be seen which of those players will retain their places when Mosimane names the final Bafana Bafana squad.
