Morocco midfielder Nail El Aynaoui ready to play any position at RB Leipzig

Moroccan international Nail El Aynaoui has expressed his satisfaction with his start at German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig after quickly establishing himself in the team.

El Aynaoui has started all three matches Leipzig have played since his arrival, giving him an early opportunity to adapt to his new surroundings and the demands of German football.

The midfielder was particularly pleased with Leipzig’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Hamburg, describing the performance as an important response after their previous defeat against Como.

“I am happy not only with the result but also with the team’s performance,” El Aynaoui told Leipzig’s official website. “It was crucial for us to show a reaction.”

The Moroccan has already demonstrated his versatility in midfield, featuring in different positions depending on the team’s requirements. He insists he is comfortable playing wherever his coach needs him.

“I can play in both positions, and I will always play wherever the team needs me,” he said.

El Aynaoui also joked about his ability to cover significant distances during matches, linking his physical endurance to his Moroccan roots.

“Moroccans generally run a lot, so I think it’s in my blood,” he added.

However, the 24-year-old does not want his contribution to be limited to defensive duties and covering ground. He is also keen to influence Leipzig’s attacking play and create opportunities for his teammates.

“I also try to involve my teammates in the play,” El Aynaoui explained.

Having experienced football in France, Italy and now Germany, the midfielder has also noticed clear differences in the tactical and physical demands across the three leagues.

“The Bundesliga leans more towards attack… the Italian league is somewhat more defensive—there aren’t as many goals, and matches are tighter… while the French league is a bit of a mix between the two,” he said.

Despite being new to the club, El Aynaoui has been pleased with the reception he has received in Leipzig. He credited his teammates and the coaching staff for making his transition into German football easier.

“Everyone made me feel very welcome; the team and the coach made my adaptation process here very easy,” he said.

His ability to speak French, Spanish and other languages has also helped him communicate with his new teammates and settle into the squad.

El Aynaoui will now turn his attention to another major test as Leipzig prepare to face Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.

The Moroccan midfielder is expecting a demanding encounter and understands that Leipzig will need to be ready for a physical and competitive battle.

“We know it will be a battle…” El Aynaoui said.

With three consecutive starts already under his belt, the midfielder will be looking to maintain his place in the team and continue making an impact as he begins his new chapter in the Bundesliga.
