Tottenham are preparing a January approach for Nottingham Forest playmaker and captain Morgan Gibbs-White as they look to strengthen their squad during the winter transfer window.
Gibbs-White has emerged as a target for Tottenham, who are expected to try to sign the 24-year-old from Nottingham Forest in January. Teamtalk reports that the London club will make an offer for the midfielder when the transfer window reopens.
However, Nottingham Forest have no intention of allowing their leading player to leave during the winter. The club are not expected to consider offers for Gibbs-White until next summer.
Gibbs-White currently earns £150,000 a week at Nottingham Forest, who will seek to retain the player despite Tottenham’s interest.
Tottenham hope they can persuade Nottingham Forest to change their position as they attempt to add quality to their squad. The club have made a modest start to the season and have yet to win in the Premier League.
Their latest setback came in the League Cup, where they were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool and eliminated from the competition.
In the Premier League, Tottenham have lost to Newcastle and Brentford, while drawing against Everton and Nottingham Forest. They will face Aston Villa in the fifth round of league fixtures.
