Esperance issue warning to fans travelling for Al-Swehly Champions League tie

Esperance de Tunis have warned supporters that key details for their CAF Champions League away match against Libya’s Al-Swehly remain unconfirmed, including the date, venue and ticket arrangements.

The Tunisian club are due to visit Al-Swehly between 16 and 18 October 2026 for the first leg of their second preliminary-round tie.

In a statement, Esperance said: “Esperance Sportive de Tunis informs its loyal supporters that, concerning the first-leg match scheduled in Libya between 16 and 18 October 2026, information about the exact date of the game, the approved stadium, entry requirements, the number of tickets allocated to the visiting team’s supporters and how those tickets can be obtained is still being clarified.”

The club said it could not accept responsibility for supporters who decided to travel before official details had been confirmed.

“Accordingly, the club cannot assume any responsibility regarding supporters’ travel or their entry into the stadium, nor can it guarantee that tickets will be available to fans who choose to travel to the venue, given the absence of officially confirmed information on these issues,” the statement added.

Esperance also acknowledged the desire of their supporters to attend and back the team in the continental fixture.

“While appreciating the enthusiasm of its supporters to accompany and support the team in this continental match, the club will ensure that its fans are informed of all developments and confirmed information as soon as it becomes available through the club’s official channels,” it said.

Esperance enter the second preliminary round after CAF gave them a bye from the opening round.

Al-Swehly reached this stage after overcoming the Zanzibar champions.

Esperance’s tie is one of several involving clubs from North Africa. Egypt are represented in the CAF Champions League by Zamalek and Pyramids.

Zamalek will face Rwanda’s Army, while Pyramids have been drawn against South Sudanese champions Al-Merrikh Bentiu.
