Mohamed Salah meets Thomas Reis ahead of expected Trabzonspor appointment

Mohamed Salah has held talks with Thomas Reis, the German coach set to take charge of Trabzonspor within hours, despite the Turkish club not yet officially confirming his appointment.

Reis, currently manager of Bulgarian club Ludogorets, arrived in Turkey earlier and received a warm welcome from Trabzonspor supporters at the airport. The club have reached a preliminary agreement with the 51-year-old to become their new head coach, according to Turkish outlet 61saat.

Turkish newspapers published a photograph of Salah meeting Reis before Trabzonspor’s formal announcement. The meeting came as negotiations between the club and the German coach advanced significantly in recent hours.

A report by HT Spor said Trabzonspor would pay Ludogorets the value of Reis’ release clause to complete the deal.

Reis is expected to take charge of Trabzonspor for the first time in Saturday’s match against Galatasaray. Reports indicate that he will sign a contract lasting one season, with an option to extend the agreement for a further campaign.

The German has previous experience in Turkish football, having managed Samsunspor. He is now set to replace Fatih Tekke, who recently left his role as Trabzonspor manager.

Reis has also been working with Hossam Abdelmegid since the defender joined Ludogorets from Zamalek in the summer. That existing relationship will continue at Trabzonspor if Reis’ appointment is completed as expected.
