Togo call up German-born defender Henri Koudossou for 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Henri Koudossou has been included in Patrice Neveu’s Togo squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Burundi and Zambia.

The 26-year-old right-back was born in Munich and is of Togolese descent. His selection gives the Eperviers an additional defensive option, while his ability to operate along the entire right flank provides Neveu with greater tactical flexibility.

Koudossou’s route through German football

Koudossou developed in Germany and has gradually established himself in the country’s football system. He spent time in the lower divisions before joining FC Augsburg, where he was contracted in the Bundesliga.

He gained valuable playing experience during a series of loan spells, including a period in Austria with SC Rheindorf Altach. He later continued his development with Arminia Bielefeld.

A modern defender, Koudossou is known for his explosive pace, stamina and ability to maintain his intensity throughout the match. He is also strong in one-on-one duels and offers an attacking threat through the quality of his crossing and his speed when advancing from defence.

Those attributes are expected to add energy and balance to Togo’s play as they prepare for their two qualifying fixtures.

Koudossou is set to wear Togo’s yellow shirt for the first time in the matches against Burundi and Zambia.
