Algerian winger Mohamed Belloumi has earned a place on the shortlist for the Premier League Player of the Week award for Matchday 4 following his outstanding performance for Hull City against Chelsea.

Belloumi was the standout figure for the Tigers during their clash with the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, September 12, producing a stunning individual display to turn the game around after Hull City fell behind.

With Hull City trailing 1-0, the Algeria international quickly changed the complexion of the contest. Belloumi restored parity in the 28th minute with a well-taken equaliser before completing his remarkable turnaround six minutes later.

The winger struck again in the 34th minute to put Hull City 2-1 ahead, transforming a difficult situation into a position of advantage and leaving Chelsea struggling to respond.

His two-goal performance immediately attracted attention, with Belloumi’s contribution now earning him recognition among the leading performers from Matchday 4.

The Algerian has subsequently been included on the shortlist for the Premier League Player of the Week award, giving him the opportunity to claim individual recognition for his impressive showing at Stamford Bridge.

However, Belloumi faces strong competition for the honour, with seven other players also nominated.

Elliot Anderson, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Leif Davis, Pascal Gross, Joao Pedro, David Raya and Kevin Schade have all made the shortlist alongside the Hull City winger.

Belloumi will therefore need to receive strong support to secure the award after his memorable contribution against Chelsea.

His nomination further underlines the impact of his performance, with the Algerian winger now hoping his heroics at Stamford Bridge can earn him the Matchday 4 individual prize.
