Fouzi Lekjaa has become the most cited personality in the press after recording a significant rise in media mentions between 17 August and 12 September.
An analysis of press coverage and social media shows that Lekjaa’s share of mentions increased from 2.5% to 13.1% during the four-week period.
The increase moved the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation from 10th place to the top of the ranking of the personalities most frequently cited in the press.
The report also shows that Lekjaa overtook Aziz Akhannouch in media mentions by the end of the period studied.
His growing visibility was also recorded within the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), where his share of press mentions among party figures increased considerably.
Lekjaa accounted for 39.9% of press mentions involving PAM figures on 12 September, compared with 13% on 17 August.
That represented an increase of almost 27 percentage points over four weeks and placed him well ahead of other party figures in the media analysis.
The same trend was recorded on social media. Lekjaa’s accounts represented 72.1% of mentions relating to PAM political figures during the period examined.
He was followed by Fatima-Zahra Mansouri, who accounted for 14.4% of the mentions, while Mehdi Bensaid recorded 4.9%.
The rise in Lekjaa’s visibility came alongside a broader increase in coverage of the PAM.
The number of articles concerning the party increased from 159 per week to 510 during the period, representing a 3.2-fold rise in one month.
The figures are based on an analysis covering 10,825 pieces of content published between 17 August and 12 September.
The material examined included 4,965 press articles and online media reports, alongside 5,860 posts published on social media.
A total of 127 individuals were included in the analysis, providing the basis for the comparison of media mentions during the period.
Lekjaa’s rise was particularly pronounced when measured against his position at the beginning of the period.
On 17 August, his share of press mentions stood at 2.5%, placing him 10th in the ranking. By 12 September, his share had climbed to 13.1%, putting him first.
The figures therefore show a marked increase in the attention surrounding Lekjaa across both press and social media during the four weeks covered by the analysis.
His position at the top of the ranking came as the PAM also experienced a substantial increase in the volume of media coverage devoted to the party.
By the end of the period, Lekjaa had become the most cited personality in the press among the 127 individuals monitored in the analysis.
