Egypt set out September schedule for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Egypt will begin preparations for the next international break under manager Hossam Hassan, with matches against Angola and South Sudan in the opening two rounds of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

The international window will run from 21 September to 6 October.

Egypt’s squad is due to be announced this evening, before the players meet tomorrow at the National Teams Gathering Centre in 6 October. The initial camp will continue until 24 September.

Players from Pyramids and ZED will join the squad tomorrow after completing their fifth-round matches involving Eastern Company, ENPPI and Al Qanah.

On 24 September, the Egypt squad will move to a hotel in Cairo as preparations begin for their first qualifying fixture.

Hossam Hassan’s side will face Angola at Cairo Stadium on the evening of 25 September in their opening Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.

The team will then travel to South Sudan on 27 September by private plane for the second game of the international break.

Egypt will play South Sudan on 29 September, with the delegation scheduled to return on 30 September.

Before the break ends, Egypt will host South Africa in a friendly in Cairo on 4 October.

The schedule means Egypt will play Angola in Cairo on 25 September before travelling to face South Sudan four days later. Their meeting with South Africa will then take place on 4 October.
