Luis Diaz backs himself to end Bayern Munich scoring drought

Luis Diaz says he remains confident he will rediscover his scoring touch for Bayern Munich after beginning the season with one goal in six appearances.

The Colombia winger enjoyed a remarkable first campaign with the Bundesliga champions, but has gone through a quieter spell in front of goal since the start of the current season.

Speaking to Sky Sport Germany, Diaz insisted his ambition had not been affected by his recent lack of goals.

“I have always said that I will never lose my desire,” he said. “The ambition to achieve more is what my mindset will always be.”

The 29-year-old added that periods of poor form were part of football, but said he would continue to work for the team and give his full commitment on the pitch.

“I always want to achieve more,” said Diaz. “Whatever happens, there may be periods when I do not perform well or cannot find the net.

“But I will always do my best and give everything for the team. I will give 101% on the pitch. Everything else will come with time, step by step.”

Diaz said he was focused on improving his overall game rather than allowing his current run to become a source of pressure.

“I am looking for the best version of myself and I will reach it soon,” he said. “I believe the goal will come in the next match.”

Bayern are preparing to face Union Berlin on Friday in the fourth round of the Bundesliga. Diaz said maintaining a calm mindset would be important as he looks to end his wait for another goal.

“You also have to remain mentally calm so that it does not create pressure for you,” he said. “The important thing is to continue working and improving.”

The winger believes his main problem is not a lack of opportunities, but the final touch needed to turn them into goals.

“I know it is simply about taking the chances,” Diaz said. “All I am missing is the final touch, and after that everything will be fine.”

Diaz made a major impact during his first season at Bayern Munich in 2025-2026. He scored 26 goals and provided 23 assists in 51 matches, establishing himself as an important attacking player for the club.

His current tally of one goal from six matches is therefore a significant contrast to the numbers he produced in his opening campaign, although Diaz remains convinced that his form will improve if he continues to work patiently and avoids placing additional pressure on himself.
