Crysencio Summerville and Ismael Bennacer sent off after Al Hilal and Al Gharafa clash

Al Hilal’s AFC Champions League Elite match against Al Gharafa was temporarily stopped after a confrontation between the players led to red cards for Crysencio Summerville and Ismael Bennacer.

The incident occurred in the 32nd minute, when Summerville became involved in an altercation with Al Gharafa’s Abdulrahman Al-Rashidi.

The Al Hilal player initially grabbed Al-Rashidi by his shirt and pushed him forcefully, causing him to fall outside the field of play.

As other players moved in, Bennacer intervened and pulled Summerville forcefully by the head. The incident then escalated into a serious confrontation involving players from both sides.

United Arab Emirates referee Omar Al Ali showed Summerville a straight red card. He then issued an identical punishment to Bennacer once the situation had calmed.

Al Ali waited for confirmation from the video assistant referee before approving both dismissals and reviewing whether any other players had been involved in the incident.

Summerville and Bennacer took some time to leave the pitch, but eventually departed and the match resumed. The game was the first appearance for Al Gharafa of Bennacer, who had joined the Qatari side before the fixture.
