Tala’ea El Gaish player Ahmed Alaa has undergone surgery after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
The 32-year-old sustained the injury during the Montakhab El Suez v Petrojet match in the second round of the Egyptian league.
Alaa had the operation at a Cairo hospital in the past few hours under the supervision of Ahmed Rizk. His recovery is expected to take between six and nine months, in line with the treatment protocol normally followed for ACL injuries.
Tala’ea El Gaish players and the coaching staff, led by Gomaa Mashhour, visited Alaa after the operation to check on his condition.
Alaa made a positive start to the season, scoring from a direct free-kick to give Tala’ea El Gaish a 1-0 victory over Arab Contractors.
He has made 97 appearances for Tala’ea El Gaish since joining the club from Arab Contractors in 2024.
Tala’ea El Gaish are eighth in the league with seven points from five rounds.
