Aden McCarthy earns Team of the Week place after Sabah FC clean-sheet run

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Aden McCarthy has been named in the Sofascore Team of the Week after helping Sabah FC record their fourth consecutive clean sheet in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

Sabah FC moved back to the top of the table with a 3-0 victory over Sefa on Monday. They have taken 12 points from four matches and have a goal difference of +11.

They are level on points with Neftci, who have won four matches and lost one, with a goal difference of +10.

McCarthy has started all four of Sabah FC’s league matches and was recognised for his performance in Monday’s win.

The former Chiefs youth player made 107 touches and completed 87 of his 90 passes. He also recorded six clearances, made six recoveries and won one aerial duel.

His display earned him a Sofascore rating of 7.5, securing his place in the Team of the Week.

McCarthy is currently the fifth-highest-rated player in the Azerbaijan Premier League, with an average rating of 7.35.
