Egyptian Super Cup: November date in UAE emerges as four-team tournament plans take shape

The first week of November is the closest proposed date for the Egyptian Super Cup, with the four-team competition set to be held in the United Arab Emirates.

The Egyptian Football Association has settled on the timing as its preferred option, according to information obtained by FilGoal.com.

The tournament will feature Zamalek, as Egyptian Premier League champions, and Pyramids, who won the Egypt Cup. Al Masry will take part as winners of the League Cup, while Al Ahly are expected to receive an invitation through the competition’s golden card system.

Al Ahly are the holders of the Egyptian Super Cup after winning last season’s tournament in the UAE. They beat Zamalek 2-0 in the final in Abu Dhabi to claim the trophy.

Ceramica Cleopatra finished third in that edition, while Pyramids took fourth place.

The victory gave Al Ahly their 16th Egyptian Super Cup title, with eight of those triumphs coming against Zamalek.

It was also Al Ahly’s fifth consecutive success in the competition. They have won the Egyptian Super Cup in its new four-team format on each of the three occasions it has been used, maintaining a perfect record.
