Al Ahli travel to Johannesburg by private jet for Mamelodi Sundowns tie

Al Ahli will fly to South Africa on Wednesday morning on a private jet for their Intercontinental Cup meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns, according to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah.

The Saudi club will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Three Continents Cup final on Saturday, with the match taking place in Pretoria.

Al Ahli’s delegation will travel directly from Jeddah to Johannesburg before continuing by bus for about 50km to Pretoria, where the game will be played.

The squad will leave shortly after completing recovery work on Tuesday. Head coach Marino Pusic decided not to give his players a day off following Monday’s 1-1 draw with Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor in the opening round of the AFC Champions League Elite.

The recovery session will be held at the club’s training ground before the team departs for Johannesburg.

Al Ahli are scheduled to hold two training sessions after arriving in South Africa, focusing on their technical and physical preparation. Their final session will take place at the match stadium on Friday, in line with the competition’s regulations.

The club began its campaign in this year’s tournament with a 1-0 victory over New Zealand side Auckland FC on 26 August.

Mamelodi Sundowns entered the competition as winners of the CAF Champions League.
