Hakan Calhanoglu ruled out of Inter’s Serie A meeting with Roma

Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will miss the club’s next Serie A match against Roma after medical tests confirmed an injury to his right thigh.

The Turkey international was absent from Inter’s match against Udinese on Monday and underwent examinations on Tuesday morning at the Humanitas medical institute in Rozzano to assess the problem.

Inter said the tests showed that Calhanoglu had suffered a strain to the adductor muscle in his right thigh. The club added that his condition would be reviewed over the coming days.

His absence has now been confirmed for Inter’s meeting with Roma on Saturday, 19 September, at the Stadio Olimpico. The setback is a blow for Inter head coach Cristian Chivu.

Calhanoglu will be given time to recover, with Serie A scheduled to pause for the international break after the Roma fixture.

Inter are expected to target his return for the match against Parma on 10 October, provided he makes a full recovery and does not suffer a setback.
