Inter Milan fight back from two-goal deficit to reclaim Serie A top spot

Inter Milan produced a remarkable comeback to beat Udinese 5-3 on Monday and return to the top of the Serie A table after falling 2-0 behind inside the opening 16 minutes.

Udinese made the stronger start, with James Abankwah opening the scoring in the ninth minute before Jurgen Ekkelenkamp doubled their advantage seven minutes later.

Inter began their recovery through Carlos Augusto, who pulled a goal back in the 26th minute. Nicolo Barella then completed the comeback before half-time, levelling the match with a goal in the 35th minute.

The visitors took control after the interval when Marcus Thuram put Inter ahead for the first time in the 57th minute. Pio Esposito extended their lead 10 minutes later to leave Udinese facing a difficult task.

Inter added a fifth in the 79th minute, with substitute Ange-Yoan Bonny completing the scoring for the Nerazzurri.

Udinese did manage a late consolation goal, Idrissa Gueye scoring in added time, but Inter held on to secure all three points.

The result lifted Inter to 12 points at the top of the Serie A standings, level with Roma. Udinese remain 13th with four points.
