National Bank rule out Al Ahly move for Mahmoud El Gazzar

National Bank have ruled out the possibility of defender Mahmoud El Gazzar leaving the club for Al Ahly during the upcoming January transfer window.

El Gazzar’s name has recently been linked with a move to the Egyptian giants, who are expected to strengthen their defensive options after Amr El Gazzar suffered a cruciate ligament injury that has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

However, National Bank president Ashraf Nassar has insisted that the club have not received any approach from Al Ahly regarding the defender.

“National Bank’s management has not received any official or friendly offers from Al Ahly Club during the past hours to sell Mahmoud Al-Jazzar, the team’s defender,” Nassar said.

“Even if any offer comes in, we will not let go of the player, because the team’s defense was greatly affected after the sale of Amr El-Gazzar,” he added.

Mahmoud El Gazzar has become an important part of the National Bank defensive setup and the club considers him a key player to retain as they seek stability at the back.

The defender recently renewed his contract with National Bank for three additional seasons, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2028/29 season.

With the long-term contract and the club’s firm stance on his future, Al Ahly would face a difficult task trying to convince Al Ahly Bank to sanction a deal.

For now, Al Ahly Bank’s position is clear: Mahmoud El Gazzar is not available for transfer, despite the growing speculation surrounding interest from the Egyptian champions.
