Real Madrid make Jude Bellingham contract renewal a priority under Jose Mourinho

Real Madrid have made a new contract for Jude Bellingham their next priority after the England midfielder’s outstanding start to the season under manager Jose Mourinho.

The club’s hierarchy wants to reward Bellingham’s performances, secure his long-term future and prevent rival interest from creating uncertainty around his position at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Bellingham has scored two goals and provided three assists in his first four La Liga matches this season, establishing himself as the driving force behind Mourinho’s new project at Real Madrid.

Although the 22-year-old’s current contract runs until the summer of 2029, the club believes his contribution merits a significant improvement to his salary and an extension for additional years. Real Madrid regard him as one of the team’s leading figures and a central part of their plans for the future.

According to respected journalist Ramon Alvarez, club officials have already begun discussions with people close to Bellingham about increasing his annual wages and extending his agreement. The move follows Real Madrid’s policy of protecting their most important players, a strategy that recently resulted in a new contract for Vinicius Junior after prolonged uncertainty over the Brazilian’s future.

Bellingham joined Real Madrid from German side Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth 127 million euros. He quickly justified the size of the fee, producing numbers rarely associated with a midfielder.

Since moving to the Spanish capital, the England international has made 145 appearances, scoring 48 goals and creating 36 more for his team-mates.

His importance has extended beyond his statistics. Bellingham played a direct role in Real Madrid winning the Champions League in the 2023-2024 season, the UEFA Super Cup and La Liga.

Those achievements have transformed him from a highly rated signing into one of the leading figures of a new generation at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The club’s decision is also intended to make its position clear: Bellingham is not for sale and is viewed as a foundation stone for Real Madrid’s future under Mourinho.
