Achraf Hakimi suffers minor right-thigh injury, Paris Saint-Germain confirm

Paris Saint-Germain have announced that right-back Achraf Hakimi sustained a minor injury to his right thigh during the club’s match against Brest.

The Morocco international was substituted after 39 minutes, with Fabian Ruiz coming on in his place. Paris Saint-Germain went on to claim a 1-0 victory over Brest in the fourth round of Ligue 1.

The club said Hakimi would receive treatment over the next two days, with a further medical update expected at the end of that period.

“Achraf Hakimi sustained a slight injury to his right thigh during the match against Brest,” Paris Saint-Germain said in a statement published on their official website.

“He will undergo treatment over the next two days and a further medical update will be provided at the end of that period.”

Hakimi is in his sixth season with Paris Saint-Germain after joining the club in the summer of 2021. He had started each of the team’s seven matches this season before being withdrawn against Brest.

The 27-year-old has appeared in four Ligue 1 matches, as well as the French Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the opening league-phase fixture in the UEFA Champions League.

The injury comes before Morocco manager Mohamed Ouahbi is due to name his squad for this month’s matches against Gabon and Lesotho. The squad announcement is scheduled for 17 September.
