Omar Marmoush confident Tottenham can turn season around before Everton test

Omar Marmoush has offered Tottenham Hotspur supporters a message of optimism ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Everton, insisting the London club is on the verge of a new phase despite their disappointing start to the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Everton to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow, with the hosts looking to recover from a difficult opening three matches. They sit 17th in the table with one point, while Everton arrive in eighth place on five points after a more encouraging beginning.

Marmoush, who joined Tottenham alongside other new arrivals, told The Straits Times: “I have only been here for a few weeks, but the overall impression has been really excellent.”

The Egypt forward also described his relationship with manager Roberto De Zerbi and said the players were working hard to understand and implement his ideas.

“He has a great passion,” Marmoush said. “We are trying to understand what he asks of us and apply it on the pitch in the best possible way. Things have been going very well so far.”

The 26-year-old believes Tottenham’s performances and results will improve as the squad has more time to work together.

“We hope to win games,” he said. “As a new player who has joined the team alongside other players, the understanding will continue to grow as we spend more time together, and I believe the results will be excellent.”

Marmoush has made two appearances for Tottenham so far. He featured in the 2-0 defeat by Newcastle United before starting in the goalless away draw against Nottingham Forest.

Saturday’s match gives Tottenham the chance to secure their first victory of the league season, while Everton will attempt to maintain their position in the upper half of the table. Marmoush’s comments reflect his confidence that greater cohesion within the squad can help change the team’s fortunes after a subdued opening.
