Hakim Ziyech’s Botafogo salary could reach 1m Brazilian reais a month

Brazilian media have revealed financial details of Hakim Ziyech’s new contract with Botafogo, which could see the Morocco international earn up to 1m Brazilian reais (£195,000; $195,000) per month if he meets the targets and incentive conditions included in the agreement.

Botafogo announced on Thursday that they had signed Ziyech until the end of 2028. The 32-year-old joined the Brazilian club as a free agent after leaving Wydad Athletic Club.

Reports from several Brazilian outlets say Ziyech’s fixed monthly salary will be about 850,000 Brazilian reais (£165,000; $165,000). That figure can increase to 1m Brazilian reais (£195,000; $195,000) if he achieves the objectives set out in his contract.

The player’s monthly salary will not exceed 1m Brazilian reais. However, he could move close to that maximum during the final year of the deal, depending on the targets he completes and the incentives he earns.

Ziyech spent a short period with Wydad Athletic Club before moving to Botafogo. He made 16 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals and providing two assists.

The move gives Ziyech another opportunity in a career that has included a successful spell at Ajax. He has also played for Chelsea, Galatasaray and Al-Duhail before beginning his latest chapter in the Brazilian league.
