Bradley Barcola has endured a difficult start to his Liverpool career after suffering an injury during the Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.

The 24-year-old French winger was forced off after an hour of the game and has yet to score in three appearances. The setback is his first injury of the season.

With Liverpool preparing to face Tottenham in the third round of the League Cup, manager Andoni Iraola confirmed that Barcola is not yet ready to return to team training.

“He is not ready to train with the team yet,” Iraola said, according to Foot Mercato. “He is training on his own, but he has started working with the ball. We want him back as soon as possible.”

Barcola joined the club in the summer but has had little opportunity to establish himself since the start of the campaign.

Iraola said the winger still required further recovery time before he could resume full training.

“He still has some time to recover, and it will take a while,” he added. “With all these long-term injuries, I think Giovanni Leoni has a slight advantage over him.”
