Egypt FA to decide youth team coaches at board meeting

The Egypt Football Association is set to decide the coaching appointments for several youth national teams at a board meeting on Tuesday, with technical director Shawky Gharib presenting a shortlist of candidates.

According to a source familiar with the process, former Enppi coach Ahmed Fathi is among four names put forward by Gharib as the federation looks to finalise its coaching structure for the coming period.

The other candidates are former Pyramids coach Mohamed Fathallah, former Abu Qir Fertilizers coach Amir Azmy Megahed, and former Zamalek forward Gamal Hamza.

The meeting, chaired by EFA president Hany Abo Rida, will also consider the technical staff for Egypt’s Olympic team and review plans for the national teams at the 2011, 2012 and 2013 age-group levels.

The federation confirmed that board members will meet at 13:00 local time on Tuesday to discuss several matters relating to the national teams and the association’s wider football development plans.

Technical, administrative and medical staff, along with players from the 2007, 2009 and 2010 youth teams, will also take part in the gathering, alongside representatives from the futsal and beach soccer teams and the federation’s talent development project.

The meeting forms part of the EFA’s youth development strategy under the slogan “A new generation… a new dream,” as it seeks to strengthen the pathway for young players across different age groups.
