Morocco star Azzedine Ounahi opens Greek league scoring account with Panathinaikos

Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi opened his scoring account in the Greek Super League this season after finding the back of the net in Panathinaikos’ convincing 3–0 victory over Panetolikos on Sunday.

The fourth-round encounter saw Ounahi play a key role in Panathinaikos’ comfortable victory, scoring his side’s second goal in the 39th minute to help put the home side in a commanding position before the break.

The goal marked Ounahi’s first league strike since returning to Panathinaikos and provided a timely boost for the midfielder as he continues to settle into his second spell with the Greek giants.

Panathinaikos controlled proceedings for large periods of the match and eventually secured all three points with a strong attacking display. Ounahi’s contribution added to an impressive team performance as they maintained their push for a positive start to the campaign.

For the Moroccan midfielder, the goal is particularly significant as he looks to establish himself as an influential figure in the Panathinaikos midfield following his return to the club.

Ounahi was making his third appearance for Panathinaikos this season and remained on the pitch for 61 minutes before being replaced by teammate Andreas as the technical team made changes to manage the game.

The match also featured another Moroccan international, Imran Louza, who started the encounter and was also withdrawn after playing 61 minutes.

Ounahi returned to Panathinaikos during the summer transfer window after completing a move from Spanish club Girona. The midfielder has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at the Greek club until the summer of 2030.

His return represents a second spell with Panathinaikos after previously spending time at the club during the season before last, where he gained valuable experience of Greek football.

The Moroccan international will now be hoping his opening league goal can be the beginning of a productive campaign as Panathinaikos look to challenge strongly for domestic honours.

With his technical ability, creativity and experience at international level, Ounahi is expected to play an important role in the club’s ambitions, while his latest goal will further boost his confidence as the season progresses.
