Gift Orban fires hat-trick to match Victor Osimhen’s Super Lig record

Gift Orban has matched Victor Osimhen’s Super Lig goal tally after firing a second-half hat-trick to power Amedspor to a commanding 5-0 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir on Sunday night.

The Nigerian forward produced a devastating 45-minute display at the Seyrantepe Spor Kompleksi Stadyumu 1, scoring three times after the break to cap an outstanding performance for the hosts.

Orban’s treble took his league tally to six goals from five appearances, drawing him level with fellow Super Eagles striker Osimhen at the top end of the scoring charts.

Orban runs riot after the break

Amedspor had already established control of the contest before Orban took centre stage in the second half.

The former Hellas Verona striker doubled the hosts’ advantage seven minutes after the restart when he rose to meet Furkan Soyalp’s cross, directing his header into the bottom corner.

He needed only two more minutes to add another.

Orban finished a swift counter-attack after Ermal Krasniqi picked him out with a precise layoff, with the forward keeping his composure to score from close range.

The 24-year-old completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes remaining, again benefiting from Krasniqi’s creativity before firing the ball home to complete a memorable individual display.

His treble helped Amedspor seal their emphatic victory and further underlined Orban’s rapid impact since arriving in Turkey.

Orban matching Osimhen

Orban joined Amedspor on loan during the summer transfer window and has quickly established himself among the Super Lig’s most productive forwards.

He has now scored six goals and provided one assist in five league appearances, finding the net against Trabzonspor, Kasimpasa and Istanbul Başakşehir.

His latest performance puts him level with Osimhen, who has also scored six league goals this season.

Osimhen had registered his six goals and two assists in four appearances before a hamstring injury interrupted his promising start to the campaign.

With Orban continuing to find the net regularly, the striker will hope his form earns him a recall to the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau.
