Wydad Casablanca faced a defeat against Fath Rabat with a scoreline of two goals to one, in a match held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, as part of the 16th round of the professional league.
The match witnessed the absence of Fawzi Benzarti from the Wydad Casablanca bench due to a suspension, as he watched the game from the stands while the team was led by his assistant coach.
The “Red” team dominated much of the first half, controlling possession, while Fath Rabat resorted to defensive tactics and counterattacks.
Youssef El Matyouri saved his goal from a clear shot by player Anas Baash inside the penalty area following a counterattack.
In the 26th minute, the match referee awarded a penalty kick to Wydad Casablanca after consulting VAR technology, following a foul on player Amine Farhane inside the penalty area, which was converted into a goal by player Badr Kadarin.
During the second half of the match, Jamal Salami’s side tried to turn the tide, which they managed to do with a penalty kick successfully taken by striker Ayoub Nanah, after the match referee consulted VAR technology following a handball by one of the defenders.
In the dying moments of the game, Fath Rabat managed to score the winning goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time through Reda Allaoui.
Wydad Casablanca’s tally froze at 25 points in fourth place, while Fath Rabat continued to occupy fifth place with 24 points, pending the remaining matches of the 16th round.
