Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joins Zlatan Ibrahimovic in elite LaLiga scoring club

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has matched a LaLiga scoring feat last achieved by Zlatan Ibrahimovic 17 years ago after continuing his remarkable start to the 2026/27 season.

The 37-year-old scored Deportivo La Coruna’s equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Getafe on Sunday, extending his scoring run to each of the club’s opening five league matches.

Aubameyang has now become only the 11th player in LaLiga history to score in every one of the first five rounds of a campaign.

His latest goal puts him in the company of an exclusive group and sees him replicate a feat Ibrahimovic achieved with Barcelona in 2009.

Five games, five goals

Aubameyang opened his account against Elche before continuing his remarkable run against Malaga, Valencia and Villarreal.

The Gabon international then found the net again against Getafe to maintain his perfect scoring sequence at the start of the campaign.

His consistency in front of goal has been central to Deportivo’s impressive return to the Spanish top flight.

The newly promoted side are yet to lose after five matches, with Aubameyang playing a key role in their unbeaten start under manager Antonio Hidalgo.

Aubameyang leading Deportivo’s charge

The former Barcelona forward has five goals and two assists from his first five league appearances, giving him a direct hand in seven goals.

His influence has provided Deportivo with a significant attacking threat as they adjust to life back in LaLiga.

At 37, Aubameyang is showing that his goalscoring instincts remain intact, while his latest achievement places him alongside one of the competition’s most celebrated strikers.

Ibrahimovic’s 2009 run came during his first season at Barcelona, when he scored in each of the club’s first five league games.

Aubameyang has now reproduced that achievement 17 years later, adding another milestone to an already productive opening to the season.

With Deportivo unbeaten and Aubameyang continuing to find the net, the Gabon star will be hoping to extend both runs when the league resumes.
