The executive committee of the Federation Beninoise de Football (FBF) has formally endorsed Gianni Infantino’s bid to remain president of FIFA.
FBF president Marcellin Bocove said the decision reflected the impact of global football governance reforms on the development and organisation of the game in Benin.
The federation’s support is based on what it considers the positive results of investment delivered to African football bodies through the FIFA Forward programme. Infrastructure built in Benin and the expansion of training programmes are cited by the country’s football authorities as evidence that the model has produced tangible benefits.
By backing the incumbent FIFA president, Benin is also aligning its sporting policy with the continental direction promoted by the CAF.
The decision is intended to help secure the continuation of financial and technical support projects aimed at modernising football in Benin.
