Ousmane Dembele names Bayern clash as best performance of 2025-26

Ousmane Dembele has identified Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich as the standout performance of his 2025-26 campaign.

Speaking to France Football, the reigning Ballon d’Or winner looked back on a season that brought both personal success and difficult moments.

PSG defeated Bayern 5-4 at the Parc des Princes in a thrilling encounter, with Dembélé believing his display that night represented his highest level of the campaign.

“The first leg, at the Parc des Princes, was perhaps the best match of my season,” he said. Dembele also offered an honest assessment of his overall form after a challenging start. “I think I had a very good season.”

The French forward was equally candid when discussing his least impressive outing. He selected PSG’s 3-0 defeat against Chelsea, admitting that he struggled to influence the match.

“I wasn’t very influential. It happens,” Dembele said, refusing to disguise the disappointment of a performance that fell below his standards.

Despite that setback, his broader campaign remains highly impressive. Dembele continues to be recognised among the 30 nominees for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, adding further significance to his breakthrough season with the European champions.
