Brice Wembangomo features as Hacken settle for draw against Mjallby

Brice Wembangomo and Hacken were held to a 1-1 draw by reigning Swedish champions Mjallby, leaving the club without a win in their last three league matches.

The Congolese right-back featured as Hacken earned a point against a Mjallby side that has struggled to reproduce its league form recently. The result came on matchday 21 of the Swedish top flight and marked Hacken’s second successive draw.

Mjallby took the lead in the 17th minute, putting Hacken on the back foot early in the contest. Hacken responded after the break and restored parity in the 57th minute.

Neither side could find a winning goal after the equaliser, with Hacken eventually having to settle for a point from a difficult encounter.

The draw means Hacken have now gone three matches without a victory. They have recorded two consecutive draws during that period, leaving them looking for a return to winning form in their next fixture.

Despite dropping points, the result represents a useful outcome for Hacken against the reigning champions. Mjallby have struggled in recent weeks, including during their attempts to progress through the preliminary rounds of European competition, where they failed to reach the group stage.

Wembangomo played his part as Hacken battled to avoid another defeat and secure a result from the match.

Hacken remain fourth in the Swedish league standings with 33 points after 21 matches. Their position keeps them among the leading sides in the division, although their recent run has prevented them from making further progress.

The club will now turn their attention to their next league fixture as they look to end the current winless spell.

Hacken are scheduled to travel to face Kalmar on Sunday, 20 September. The match will provide Wembangomo and his team-mates with another opportunity to return to winning ways and strengthen their position in the standings.

For now, however, Hacken must settle for a second straight draw after being unable to overturn Mjallby’s early advantage despite finding an equaliser in the second half.
