Mohamed Awad set to start for Zamalek against Port Djibouti

Mohamed Awad is expected to return to goal for Zamalek when they face Port Djibouti in the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie on Saturday.

The match will kick off at 20:00 at Cairo Stadium, with Zamalek holding a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, which was also played in Cairo.

FilGoal.com understands that Awad is the leading candidate to start ahead of Mohamed Sobhi, who played in goal during the opening match. Awad and El Mahdy Soliman were both left out of the squad for that fixture.

Zamalek secured victory in the first leg through goals from Mohamed Shehata and Chico Banza. Port Djibouti’s goal was scored by Mehdi Hussein.

The winners of the tie will face Rwandan Army in the round of 32.

Rwandan Army reached that stage after beating Eagles 3-0 in the second leg of their preliminary-round tie. They had lost the first match 1-0 but progressed 3-1 on aggregate.
