Barcelona track Dortmund teenager Justin Eidogamin after Karim Adeyemi deal

Barcelona are monitoring Borussia Dortmund youngster Justin Eidogamin, who has emerged as a potential target for several leading European clubs after making a strong impression in the German club’s academy.

The 15-year-old’s progress has attracted particular attention in Spain, with Sport reporting that Barcelona have already collected initial reports on the midfielder and instructed their scouts to follow his development closely.

The situation represents a reversal of the usual relationship between the two clubs. Borussia Dortmund have regularly contacted Barcelona academy players who leave the Catalan club’s youth system or encounter difficulties renewing their contracts.

Dortmund are widely regarded as one of Europe’s leading clubs for developing young talent and giving emerging players opportunities. Their previous signings from Barcelona’s academy include Mateu Morey and Sergio Gomez.

The German club were also involved in the pursuit of Drew several months ago, competing for the player until the final stages before Paris Saint-Germain reached an agreement with Barcelona to complete the transfer.

Eidogamin is the son of Nigerian parents, while his international eligibility has led Germany, Nigeria and Italy to compete for his services at youth level.

Italy have so far succeeded in selecting him for under-16 competitions organised by the Italian Football Federation and UEFA. He has continued to impress for Dortmund over recent months, while clips of his performances have circulated widely on social media.

One of the most prominent moments came when he scored from the halfway line, a goal that quickly became widely shared.

German reports say three major European clubs are paying particular attention to the teenager, including Italian giants Juventus and Milan. Both are understood to be prepared to invest in the young player’s potential.

Barcelona’s scouting work includes assessing Eidogamin during Dortmund’s major matches and, in particular, his appearances for Italy Under-16s.
