Enugu Rangers edge past SOBEMAP FC on penalties in CAF Champions League

Enugu Rangers defeated SOBEMAP FC 5-4 on penalties after the two sides drew 1-1 in normal time, sending the Nigerian team through in the CAF Champions League.

SOBEMAP FC had to recover from falling behind when Fehintola Adeola turned the ball into his own net in the 21st minute to give Enugu Rangers the lead.

The Beninese side responded after the break and levelled in the 65th minute. Kevin Alavo, left unmarked behind the Nigerian defence, redirected a cross from the left with a header to make it 1-1.

Neither team could find a winning goal before the final whistle, so the tie was decided by a penalty shootout.

Enugu Rangers held their nerve more effectively, winning the shootout 5-4 to continue their CAF Champions League campaign.
