Raphinha named La Liga Player of the Month after five-goal August

Barcelona forward Raphinha has won the La Liga Player of the Month award for August after helping his side move to the top of the table.

The Brazil international scored five goals and provided one assist in three league appearances for Barcelona during the month.

Raphinha scored twice and set up another goal against Elche before finding the net in Barcelona’s match against Athletic Club.

He completed his impressive month by scoring both of his side’s goals against Rayo Vallecano in their final game of August.

The 29-year-old’s performances earned him the award ahead of Deportivo Alaves defender Nahuel Tenaglia, Deportivo La Coruna forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Atletico de Madrid midfielder Alex Baena and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Barcelona currently lead the La Liga standings with a perfect 12 points from their opening matches. They are two points clear of second-placed Deportivo Alaves.
