Hana Goda was beaten 3-2 by China’s world number seven Chen Xingtong in the last 16 of the table tennis World Series.
Goda made a strong start, taking the opening game 11-3. Chen responded by winning the second 11-8 to level the match.
The Chinese player then moved ahead after claiming the third game 11-6, but Goda fought back in the fourth, winning it 11-9 to force a deciding game.
Chen held her nerve in the final game, securing an 11-9 victory to complete a 3-2 win overall and book her place in the quarter-finals.
She will face Egypt’s Dina Meshref in the next round.
Meshref reached the last eight with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over American player Lily Zhang, who is of Chinese origin.
