Lazio are considering a move for Yves Bissouma as they assess the free-agent market following the closure of the transfer window.
The Serie A club are also examining the situation of former Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, but Bissouma has emerged as a key option for midfield.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio are monitoring the former Tottenham player as they look to respond to a series of recent injuries in the centre of the pitch. The Mali international is currently viewed as the most credible available candidate to strengthen that area of the squad.
Although spaces remain in Lazio’s squad, the club’s hierarchy is not expected to rush into a decision. The Italian side intend to take the necessary time before making a concrete approach for the 30-year-old midfielder.
Bissouma has attracted interest from a number of clubs. Alongside Lazio and other Serie A teams, he has also been approached by Ajax Amsterdam, as reported exclusively by Africafoot.
His current market value is estimated at 10m euros. During his time in London, Bissouma earned an annual salary of 3,219,788 euros, equivalent to 2,092,862,200 FCFA.
Lazio’s next match is against AC Milan in the fourth round of the Italian championship.
