Federico Chiesa linked with Atletico Madrid and Valencia move from Liverpool

Federico Chiesa’s future at Liverpool has become increasingly uncertain, with reports linking the Italy international with a move to La Liga during the January transfer window.

Atletico Madrid and Valencia are both said to be monitoring the forward, who has struggled for regular first-team football since joining Liverpool from Juventus in 2024.

According to Tribuna, citing Calciomercato, Chiesa could reunite with loan team-mate Harvey Elliott at Valencia. The Spanish club are currently bottom of La Liga, having collected one point from their opening four matches.

Valencia’s interest comes as they look to improve a difficult start to the season, while Atletico Madrid are also keeping track of Chiesa’s situation. Atletico were unable to re-sign Nico Gonzalez from Juventus after his successful loan spell with the club, and have now turned their attention towards the Liverpool player.

Chiesa has found opportunities limited since arriving at Anfield. During his first season, he played only 104 minutes in the Premier League and made just one start in the following campaign.

The 28-year-old has not featured in a competitive match so far this season. He was also left out of Liverpool’s squad for the Champions League, despite the list including injured players such as Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni.

The lack of playing time has increased uncertainty over Chiesa’s position at Liverpool and raised the possibility of a move to Spain when the transfer window reopens. Both Atletico Madrid and Valencia are now being linked with the Italy international, although no transfer has been confirmed.
