Michael Olise gives blunt response after scoring twice for Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich began their Champions League campaign in emphatic fashion with a 5-0 win over Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, with Michael Olise at the centre of an outstanding attacking display.

The France international scored twice, including one particularly impressive finish, and also provided an assist as Vincent Kompany’s side made the ideal start to their European campaign.

Olise was interviewed by DAZN after the match and asked about his spectacular goal. However, the Bayern Munich forward offered little insight, responding with his usual calmness and a notably brief answer.

“I don’t know,” Olise said.

When the reporter followed up by asking, “How did that happen?”, Olise replied: “I shot the ball, and it ended up in the net – or it didn’t. I’m not the only player who scores goals, I don’t think.”

His short and unenthusiastic replies appeared to frustrate the interviewer, particularly given Olise’s decisive contribution to such a convincing victory.

The 23-year-old had been one of the standout performers on a memorable European night for Bayern Munich. As well as his two goals, his assist helped underline his growing importance to Kompany’s team.

Rather than expand on his performance in front of the cameras, Olise let his statistics provide the clearest account of his influence.
